Minutes of the April 8, 2025 Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm.
Board members present: Supervisors Reini, Varichak, Kjendle, Clerk Schanche, Treasurer Samsa.
The minutes of the March meeting were read and approved as corrected.

Treasurers Report
The Treasurer’s Report was approved as reported on motion by Reini, second by Kjendle, motion carried.

Fire Report
There was 1 Fire call and 6 EMS calls in March.

After discussion, a motion was made by Reini, second by Kjendle to authorize the Fire Chief to contact the
Trout Lake Fire Chief that the French Department intends to purchase the 2006 Freightliner truck not to exceed $40,000. Motion carried.

Road Report
The road review meeting will be held on April 24 th after the Board of Review meeting.

Recreation Report
Jim stated the Rec Committee has decided to increase the tuition to $100/child for the Summer Rec Program.

A grant application has been submitted to the DNR for the pickle ball court in the amount of $40,000.

Old Business
After discussion, a motion was made by Varichak, second by Reini to accept the quote from Mesabi Bituminous to construct the new pickle ball court in the amount of $28,500. Motion carried.

After discussion, a motion was made by Varichak, second by Kjendle to accept the quote from Century Fence to install the fencing for the new pickle ball court in the amount of $14,907.50. Motion carried.

Received a check for $9,670.50 from the Sturgeon Chain of Lakes Association to be used for the construction of the pickle ball court.

After discussion, a motion was made by Reini, second by Kjendle to accept the quote from ATE Recreation to install the acrylic topping on the existing tennis court and the new pickle ball court in the amount of $26,561.

A check was received from the Sturgeon Chain of Lakes Association in the amount of $7,575 to pay for the down payment of $7,575 will be submitted. Motion carried.

New Business
After discussion, a motion by Reini, second by Varichak was made to allow Melissa to apply for the
frenchtwpmn.gov email address. Motion carried.

The bills were approved on motion by Reini, second by Varochak, motion carried.

The correspondence was read.

Motion by Reini, second by Kjendle to adjourn at 8:16, motion carried.
