Side Lake Recreation Center

The Town of French administers a recreation facility and a community building at 7548 Highway 5 in Side Lake. Located adjacent to Highway 5, across from the McCarthy Beach Road. The facilities are available to the public.

The Side Lake Recreation Complex consists of:

  • Playground Equipment – jungle gym, swings, slide, and sandbox
  • Universal Tennis and Pickle Ball Court / Basketball Court
  • Bocce Ball Courts
  • Gaga Ball Pit
  • 18-Hole Disc Golf Course – Download or Print Map Here
  • Regulation-Size Baseball Field
  • Sliding Hill for Wintertime Fun
  • Hiking / Ski Trail System
  • 2 Sand Volleyball Courts
  • Concession Stand – may be utilized by request
  • Restrooms – available spring through fall
  • Hockey Rink and Warming Shelter – open to the public when conditions warrant

Community Building

Community room and full-size kitchen available. For private parties, meetings, and other functions.

Summer Rec Program

Our Rec Program is a fun-filled opportunity for kids ages 4 to 14 to learn lots of skills, games, sports, life-long values and FRIENDSHIPS! Our Rec Leader and Coordinator, Paula Kangas (Certified Physical Education Teacher), will be back again this year, leading the charge for an incredible and creative experience for the youth in our area.
 
Registration forms can be downloaded below! Forms will also be available at CC Camp and Side Lake Store.
 

Here’s what you need to know:

Registration fee is $100 (less than $5 a day). Summer Rec will be at the Side Lake Rec Center every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, from June 9th to July 31st.

Community Columbarium

There are various cost options available, which are determined by niche location. Cost of a niche ranges from $600 to $1200, with a discount for French Township property taxpayers. For more information, call the Side Lake Rec Center at 218-254-3297 or email us at sidelakecolumbarium@gmail.com.
