At the Town Board Meeting in May of 2022, Gene Capitani announced that he would be resigning from his position effective May 4th, 2022. Gene has served on the Town of French Board for many years, and he has played an active role in many of the events and programs that the Township has provided over the years. The Side Lake Community would like to thank Gene for his service to our Township and wish him well on his next chapter.
Because there was a vacancy on the Board due to Supervisor Capitani’s resignation, MN Statutes 367.03, Subd. 6. (c) state that the Town Board shall fill the vacancy by appointment. That vacancy appointment is made by an Appointment Committee comprised of the remaining Supervisors and the Town Clerk. The appointed Supervisor will serve until the term has ended and the next Township Elections are held. At the Town Board Meeting in June of 2022, Alyssa Jerulle was appointed to fill the vacant Supervisor position for the remainder of the term. Here is a brief introduction and a few words from our newest Supervisor:
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Town of French appointment committee in appointing me to fulfill the remainder of Gene Capitani’s term as Supervisor. I have worked alongside Gene for approximately 10 years, and during that time I have been able to serve the beautiful Town of French in various volunteer roles. I feel confident knowing his role in serving the community, and I am excited to take on this position and continue serving and working with each and every one of you. I wish Gene the best in his future endeavors.
In 2009, my husband, Michael Jerulle, and I decided to make Side Lake our home. He, having grown up here, showed me the area, and the rest was history! My husband is owner-operator of Jerulle Construction, LLC and also serves as the Assistant Fire Chief for the Town of French Fire and EMS Department. We have two beautiful, very active children that keep us on our toes. You will see them right alongside me, if they are not off doing their own thing. We are often told they take after both Mike and I, always doing something and cannot keep their feet still. I am a firm believer in teaching them about serving and helping one another. I have served as a public servant for fourteen plus years and am currently employed full time for the Federal Government. I have served various roles within the Side Lake Community, having volunteered for the Side Lake Children’s Rec Program by serving on the Rec Board for approximately 5 years. I am currently on the Columbarium Committee, Firecracker 5k Committee, Fourth of July Parade Committee, Celebrate Side Lake Committee, and am also the EMS Coordinator for the Town of French Fire and EMS Department. I enjoy working with others to help them bring ideas and activities to this area. Our township is full of people who have the drive and passion to serve our community. I am excited to help them harness that and support them as Township Supervisor. If we have not already crossed paths, I look forward to meeting all of you in the coming months.” – Alyssa Jerulle
